"On the Greens"

News at the Course:
As our summer journeys into fall, the golfing
slows a bit. Some golfers, though, prefer to golf when it is a little
cooler. Let's hope we have the kind of fall that helps us forget how bad
our spring was. I think Mother Nature owes us one!
At this time of year, we have less money coming
into the cash register, so we need your help. Please plan a party at the
clubhouse or banquet hall. Every little bit helps pay some bills, and who
knows, you may entice someone to join for next year. Remember, too, you
don't need to pay any fee to use the clubhouse.
Dates to Remember:
After Labor Day: Open Golf! Any person may pay greens fees - or pay a
$125 membership fee for the rest of 2008. That fee does not include cart
fees.

Golf Funnies
* A gushy reporter told Phil Michelson, "You
are spectacular, and your name is synonymous with the game of golf.
You really know your way around the course. What's your secret?"
Michelson replied, "The holes are numbered."
*
A young man and a priest are playing together. At a short par-3, the priest
asks, "What are you going to use on this hole, my son?"
The young man says, "An 8-iron, father. How about you?"
The
priest says, "I'm going to hit a soft seven and pray."
The
young man hits his 8-iron and puts the ball on the green. The priest tops his
7-iron and dribbles the ball out a few yards.
The
young man says, "I don't know about you, father, but in my church when we
pray, we keep our head down."

Parting Shot:
Breaking 70 at 7: Arnold Palmer, nicknamed the King, got his start
at an early age. He learned to golf from his father, who was a professional
golfer, and Young Arnold actually broke 70 when he was only seven years old!
